He is the eldest son of screenwriter Salim Khan and has two brothers, Arbaaz and Sohail Khan. Salman made his acting debut in the film "Biwi Ho To Aisi" (1988) but gained recognition with his leading role in "Maine Pyar Kiya" (1989), which was a massive success and marked the beginning of his stardom.
